Dr. Joseph Santini selected as New York School for the Deaf Superintendent
The New York School for the Deaf (NYSD) Board of Trustees announced the selection of Dr. Joseph Santini as its next Superintendent. Dr. Santini is expected to begin his role at NYSD in the summer of 2022.
Dr. Santini is an education leader with nearly two decades of experience with school organizations and leadership with an expertise in bilingual education. His work includes overseeing and developing policy with a focus on the principles of shared leadership, equity, and student- and family-focused learning for the education setting.
Dr. Santini will depart his role as Director of Instruction and Equity at Clerc Center, where he supported both elementary and high school curriculum leaders with curriculum and implementation in line with his responsibilities as accreditation officer for the schools. Dr. Santini currently volunteers his time as Secretary for the National Theatre of the Deaf Board. Dr. Santini holds an MSc in Deaf Studies from the University of Bristol, an MA in Secondary Education from City College of New York, a certificate in Equity from University of South Florida, and a PhD in Education from Gallaudet University.
The search for the next NYSD Superintendent began in September 2021. The NYSD community developed a leader profile that was used to evaluate all applicants, candidates, and finalists. A search committee of teachers, staff, parents, community members, and alumni interviewed the first round of candidates. The search process concluded with a finalist on-campus visit, presentations to students and staff, and board interview. The search process was led by Innivee Strategies, Inc. an organizational and leadership development company.

La junta directiva de New York School for the Deaf ha anunciado su elección del Dr. Joseph Santini como Superintendente. Se espera que en el verano del 2022, el Dr. Santini empiece este nuevo papel en NYSD.
El Dr. Santini es un líder en el campo de educación con casi dos décadas de experiencia supervisando y desarrollando políticas para organizaciones escolares. Él ha trabajado en el campo de la educación por quince años y ha publicado artículos en el New York Times sobre la educación bilingüe. El cuenta con una Maestría de Ciencia en Estudios de Sordera de la Universidad de Bristol, una Maestría en Educación Secundaria de City College en Nueva York, un certificado de Equidad de la Universidad del Sur de Florida y un Doctorado en Educación de la Universidad Gallaudet.
La búsqueda para el siguiente Superintendente de NYSD comenzó en septiembre del 2021. La comunidad de NYSD desarrolló un perfil pertinente al nuevo líder que se usó para evaluar a los aplicantes, candidatos y los finalistas. Se creó un comité de búsqueda compuesto por personal escolar, maestros, padres, miembros de la comunidad y pasados estudiantes y estos entrevistaron a los primeros aplicantes. El comité de búsqueda concluyó el proceso invitando a los finalistas a una visita de la escuela, presentando a los estudiantes, personal escolar y siendo entrevistados por la Junta.
