Finalists Announced for Michigan School for the Deaf

Innivee Strategies is honored to support the Michigan School for the Deaf (MSD) in announcing three distinguished finalists for the Head of School position: Jessica Contreras, Charity Jackson, and Matthew G. Krueger.

These finalists emerged from a highly competitive pool of applicants following a rigorous and inclusive selection process led by MSD’s dedicated Search Committee– including staff, parents, students, alumni, and representatives from the Michigan Department of Education. We congratulate each finalist and commend all the candidates who have contributed to this thoughtful and community-centered search.

Finalist Campus Visit and Community Forum

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, all three finalists will participate in campus visits and a public community forum at the Michigan School for the Deaf.

Community Forum Details:

July 15, 2025 – 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM EST
MSD Jeter Center / Livestream Option: Available for remote participants

RSVP Deadline: Monday, July 14 at 5:00 PM EST

Following each finalist presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to share feedback via a survey. Space is limited, and in-person attendees must RSVP in advance. Overflow seating will be available for those without RSVPs.

Meet the Finalists

Jessica Contreras

Jessica Contreras is a Deaf Hispanic leader with over 17 years of experience serving Deaf youth and adults, including those with complex disabilities. A second-generation alum of Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind, Contreras blends academic and policy leadership with deep community insight. Her background spans K-12 and higher education, clinical mental health, and language assessment research. She champions equity, holistic education, and collaborative leadership grounded in evidence-based practice.

Charity Jackson

Charity Jackson brings 20+ years of experience in Deaf education and school leadership. She currently serves as School Ombudsperson at the Maryland School for the Deaf, where she leads mediation and systemic consultation. A former teacher, diversity officer, and coach, she is known for fostering inclusive, affirming spaces for students, staff, and families. She holds degrees in Deaf Education and Public Administration and is pursuing Ombuds certification .

Matthew G. Krueger

Matthew Krueger is Assistant Superintendent of Student Affairs at Indiana School for the Deaf, where he leads student development, residential life, and health services. A 20-year leader rooted in the Deaf bilingual-bicultural movement, he is a national advocate for student belonging and leadership. Krueger supports schools nationwide through accreditation and board service, and is known for his energy, transparency, and team-building spirit .

This milestone represents a meaningful step forward in MSD’s search for its next Head of School—and in strengthening leadership within Deaf education. Innivee Strategies is proud to support this process and to uplift candidates who reflect the values and vision of the MSD community.
