The finalists were selected from a competitive pool of interested applicants and recommended by the NCDHH Executive Director Search Committee. We are thrilled to have three highly qualified finalists for the board to choose from!

Information about each finalist, presented in alphabetical order, can be found below:
David ‘DT’ Bruno, LMSW
Pronouns: He/Him/His
DT Bruno is a deaf social worker committed to improving the lives of deaf communities through community organizing, policymaking, and program management. Born in New York to a multicultural Puerto Rican and Italian family rooted in helping professions, Bruno knew early on that he wanted to work with people. He earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Gallaudet University and a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University.
After working as a mental health clinician and community health worker providing statewide behavioral services and training healthcare professionals, Bruno shifted his focus to policy and advocacy to tackle systemic challenges. He has collaborated with local, statewide, and national organizations to enhance service delivery, gaining a nuanced understanding of community needs through work in deaf health, disability advocacy, youth issues, and civil rights. His compassionate and adaptive leadership style is driven by data and a deep commitment to collaboration in decision-making.
Based in Florida, Bruno is an adjunct professor for Gallaudet University’s MSW online program and provides teletherapy through My Deaf Therapy. In his free time, he explores the state with his deaf family, swims with a local U.S. Masters club, and loves sharing fun facts on various topics.
Kyle Miers
Kyle Miers, a proud Deaf individual born into a multigenerational Deaf family, holds a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Programming from Gallaudet University, the world’s only liberal arts university for Deaf individuals. Fluent in Auslan (Australian Sign Language), American Sign Language (ASL), and English, Kyle’s roots trace back to Nebraska, where he attended the Nebraska School for the Deaf before graduating from the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in 1987. His career spans decades of dedicated service to the Deaf community, holding leadership roles in organizations such as Deaf Australia, the Pacific Disability Forum, and the World Federation of the Deaf – Oceania.
As a passionate advocate, Kyle has been a founding board member of the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN) and the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO), focusing on advancing the rights and needs of Deaf individuals. He made history as the only person to present in Auslan at the National Press Club, addressing Deaf children’s literacy. Kyle’s contributions have earned him Honorary Life Membership with Deaf Australia and induction into the Nebraska Alumni Association of the Deaf’s Hall of Fame. Currently, he serves as Senior Vice President of Global Business Development at Convo Communications (Global) and is the founder of Convo Communications Australia.
Cliff Moers
Cliff Moers, former Director of the Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind, is a Gallaudet University graduate and holds a Master’s degree in Management focusing on Organizational Development and Human Resources from Regis University. Cliff has been a dedicated community leader, serving four years as President of the Colorado Association of the Deaf and contributing to various organizations, councils, and boards. He founded the Rocky Mountain Deaf School, a bilingual charter school in the Denver metro area.
Professionally, Cliff has worked in student services at the University of Colorado at Boulder and managed interpreting services for Communication Service for the Deaf/Sign Language Associates. He also previously ran a family business, Deaf-initely Possible Resources.
Cliff and his wife, Julie, have four children and two grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family and exploring Colorado’s great outdoors, including skiing, snowshoeing, camping, backpacking, 14er trekking, and cycling.
