Kyle Miers Selected as Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Executive Director
February 19, 2025 — The Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NCDHH) is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Kyle Miers as its new Executive Director. Following a rigorous and highly competitive search process led in partnership with Innivee Strategies, an organizational, leadership, and strategic consulting firm, Mr. Miers will officially step into the role in mid-February.
A Nebraska native, Kyle Miers has dedicated nearly 30 years to advancing the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, both nationally and internationally. He attended the Nebraska School for the Deaf before continuing his career in Australia, where he served as Chief Executive Officer of Deaf Australia, an organization akin to the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) in the United States. His leadership also extended to co-founding Convo Communications Australia, where he championed accessibility, inclusion, and innovation for the Deaf community. His extensive global advocacy work has helped shape policies and programs that foster greater equity and opportunity.
The NCDHH Board expressed confidence in Mr. Miers’ ability to lead the Commission into a new era of impact and service. “Kyle brings a wealth of experience, a visionary mindset, and an unwavering passion for advocating for the rights and needs of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community,” said Frances [Last Name], Chair of the NCDHH Board. “We are excited about the future under his leadership.”

“I am deeply honored to step into the role of Executive Director at NCDHH. I extend my gratitude to the search committee, the Board, and the community members for entrusting me with this responsibility. I also want to acknowledge the work of past Executive Directors, with a special thanks to Kim Davies for her leadership as Acting Executive Director over the past year.
As a proud Nebraskan, I am eager to reconnect with the community that helped shape me. Over the next six months, I will engage with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, parents, educators, interpreters, service providers, businesses, and government agencies to develop strategies that ensure full inclusion and accessibility.
Together, we will build a future where no one is left behind. I invite the community’s support and ideas as we embark on this journey to strengthen the Commission and create lasting impact in Nebraska.”
