Innivee Strategies is proud to share that the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) has announced the appointment of Nicholas Kiego as its next Chief Executive Officer. Nick will officially take the helm on August 1, 2026.
This announcement marks the culmination of a community-centered national search that began in late 2025 and reflects the priorities, perspectives, and aspirations shared by Deaf, DeafBlind, hard of hearing, and late-deafened community members throughout the process.
A Community-Centered Search
NAD’s Board of Directors, led by President Stephanie Hakulin, partnered with Innivee Strategies to design and lead a search process grounded in transparency, accountability, and broad community participation. From the community survey and focus groups that shaped the leadership profile, to the public finalist forum that introduced candidates to NAD’s affiliates and members, every stage of the search was built to center community voice.
The Board’s selection of Nick reflects both the strength of the candidates who participated and the depth of input contributed by the community.
Looking Ahead
In his remarks following the announcement, Nick named the work ahead: rebuilding trust, strengthening NAD’s financial foundation, growing membership and revenue, advancing the mission, and honoring the legacy of the organization. The Board has expressed full confidence in his strategic vision and commitment to the mission.
The community will have the opportunity to meet Nick in person at the 58th Biennial NAD Conference in San Francisco, June 30 – July 5, 2026, which will also be a pivotal moment for affiliates and members to participate in strategic goal-setting for the years ahead.
Gratitude
Innivee Strategies extends gratitude to:

- The NAD CEO Search Committee for their dedication and care throughout the process
- The candidates who shared their vision for the future of NAD
- The community members whose participation and feedback were essential at every stage
