Leadership in Action: LD2 Launches Second Cohort in Louisiana

We’re thrilled to announce the official launch of the second cohort of the Louisiana Deaf Leadership Development Program (LD2)!

In partnership with the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf (LCD), this six-month program is designed to cultivate and empower emerging leaders from Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities across Louisiana. Now in its second year, LD2 continues its mission to equip participants with tools and strategies to strengthen their leadership capacity, deepen their community impact, and lead with purpose.

What LD2 Is All About

Leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about action, collaboration, and commitment to community. Through a carefully designed curriculum focused on self-awareness, advocacy, systems thinking, and civic engagement, LD2 helps participants build the confidence and skills to speak up, navigate challenges, and lead with integrity.

This year’s cohort of 13 dynamic individuals brings together a powerful range of lived experiences—from education and advocacy to government service and community organizing. Participants come from all corners of Louisiana—Acadiana, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lake Charles, and the North Shore—and reflect the diversity of culture, identity, and leadership within the state’s Deaf and DeafBlind communities.

At our kickoff session, participants explored their leadership styles, shared personal stories, and set bold goals for the change they want to see. We were inspired by their passion, vulnerability, and drive to make a lasting difference.

Who’s Behind the Program

LD2 is led by Innivee Strategies in collaboration with the Louisiana Commission for the Deaf, a state agency that works to ensure equal access and opportunity for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Louisianans. Together, we are investing in the next generation of leaders who are shaping a more inclusive, equitable future for all.

LD2 began in 2023, and the inaugural cohort laid a strong foundation for the program’s impact and promise. That first group of leaders inspired new ways of thinking, built networks of support, and brought visibility to key issues affecting the Deaf and DeafBlind communities. You can revisit the announcement of our first cohort here.

What’s Next

Over the next six months, LD2 participants will dive into a series of learning experiences—online and in-person—covering leadership development, conflict resolution, community change, and more. They’ll also connect with local and national leaders, collaborate with peers, and work on projects that contribute to their communities.

We can’t wait to share more stories from this inspiring cohort as the program unfolds. Stay tuned for updates—and join us in celebrating these leaders as they grow, challenge systems, and create meaningful impact.
