We are delighted to announce that Christopher Kaftan has been appointed as the next Superintendent of the Iowa School for the Deaf (ISD) and Iowa Education Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (IESBVI), starting July 1, 2024.
Christopher Kaftan, with his extensive background in education and leadership roles, is ideally positioned to foster a culture of excellence educational environment for all students. His deep commitment to community and student success is evident from his long-standing career serving students who are blind, visually impaired, DeafBlind, Deaf, and Hard of Hearing.
Since February, we have supported the search that led to Christopher’s selection. This successful search was a collaborative effort, and we extend our deepest thanks to the committed community and leadership at IESBVI and ISD. Their engagement and support were pivotal in this comprehensive selection process. Together, we have taken a significant step towards enhancing educational excellence for every student.
